The word “Lenten” came into modern English as an abbreviated version of words that signified the lengthening of days. In its old secular usage, this time of Lent or the beginning of “long days” heralded the arrival of spring to winter-weary northern climates! Even today no sooner do we welcome in the New Year, take down the Christmas lights and experience the darkness of full winter that we turn to the groundhog to tell us when spring will come.
On Fridays during Lent and on Good Friday, the Stations of the Cross will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Church. Living Stations of the Cross presented by the 8 grade students of Saint John the Beloved School on April 11.
Join the Knights of Columbus for a Fish Fry Dinner from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on April 11 in the Parish Hall prior to Stations of the Cross. View the menu and more more at sjbkofcde.org/fish
