Formerly known as “RCIA” the process by which a person is brought into full communion in the Catholic Church is now called “OCIA”, which stands for “The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults.” This may seem like a minor change, but in making the entire process an Order, the importance of the Rites within the Order become more clearly defined. While the name has changed, the process itself has not.
For a variety of reasons many Christians have turned away from the active practice of religion as they have bought into the secular message that in our culture the gospel is no longer relevant. But that couldn’t be farther from the truth.
In assisting candidates in the OCIA process we have seen firsthand how the deep longings of the human spirit cannot be satisfied by what the world has to offer. What typically draws people to the Catholic Church through OCIA is:
Are you interested in becoming a Catholic? Are you a person in need of Baptism? Do you know someone who would benefit from OCIA; a friend, a neighbor, a spouse, or an adult child? For more information or to register call the church office, 302-999-0211. Come and see what the process is all about. Your questions will be answered and you will be glad you did!
Jesus said, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, then I will enter his house and dine with him, and he with me”. -- Rev 3:20.
“It is not necessary to be a saint or to be steeped in knowledge of the Church in order to be a Team Member for the OCIA process. All that is needed is a desire to learn and a willingness to be a companion to others as they begin to explore the Catholic faith. God will take care of the rest.
This is a great opportunity to get to know others in the parish, and to share your faith and how God has impacted your life.
